End of year Show
- Try and think of how your work will look in that room, will someone that is not familiar with the work be able to understand it? (the answer should be yes)
Presentation Idea.
The work I hope to present at the show is my entire visual Identity (event logo, event mascot) a selection of promotional posters and my motion graphic work shown on screen.
I hope to present my project showreel including all motion work on a monitor in the centre of my show space. Headphones will be an option so that people can listen to the audio.
I then hope to present four landscape posters (appropriately sized) on either side of the screen and my entire visual identity including event logo and mascot above it.
I am also considering using a previous logo idea (shown below) of a footprint in the shape of Africa. A number of these could be placed on the floor around my showspace.

Project Showreel..
Here is my project showreel including Main promotional animation, two online banners and animated logo's...
Final Posters
Here are my final poster designs. I have decided to use the landscape designs in my final collection of posters.
I decided to change the lens flare effect because after printing them out at A3 some of the ring effects it made look like coffee cup stains. Hopefully this will look much better when printed out at A3.

Mascot...
A mascot – originally a term for any person, animal, or object thought to bring luck – now includes anything used to represent a group with a common public identity, such as (in this case) a major sporting event like the World Cup or the Olympics.
Possible animals:
Lion/ Cheetah/ Elephant/ Buffalo/ Rhino/ Leopard
Possible names: (derived from traditiona Africanl' Zulu' language)
Feza (meaning 'Achieve')
Shela (meaning 'Passion')
Themba (meaning to 'have faith in')

African Sunset Storyboard
Here is a storyboard of my concept.
Tagline: On July 11th one event will shine upon us all
Why could this idea be successfull?:
Africa is famouse for its spectactular sunrises/ sunsets. It is also well know for its hot climate.
A sunrise represents the beginning of something new.
The idea is based around the sun, the entire worlds source of light.
Sun is also used as football (refering to the World Cup).
The sun and the football are symbols recognised the world over.
Good use of rich african colours.
Sun rise causes a silhouette appearance.
Nice continuouse movement of sun moving across screen revieling video footage of past World Cups.
Silhouettes of African animals, ideal to show achive World Cup footage within - this idea represents that the World Cup is 'within' Africa.
Using silhouettes for a reason (sunrise/set) and not just for the sake of using them (ipod style!)
A quick sunrise test using layers in After effects:

African Sunset.
This idea came to me after watching many wildlife programmes and realising the beauty of an African sunrise or sunset over the Serengeti.

Back to the drawing board...
After creating a quick mock up of my previouse idea using cave painting imagery, I decided that I wasnt happy with it and didnt want to waste any more time on the idea so decided to start over (but still consider previouse ideas)
I still want to use my main idea of relating africa with football.
Ideas continued:
- Every time the ball is kicked throughout the video it causes a spray of ink.
Could change colour using the event colours.
- A motion Graphics piece that slowly builds an image of the world.
- Ball Flying through scenes of Africa leaving a trail. Animate within trail.
- Following the ball, have it being passed to each other using both players and animals.
- Use relevant shape (hexagon/pemtigon) in a graphic style throughout the sequence.
- Collision of two worlds. (Africa - Football)

Logos continued
Logo description:
The Five colours that make up the South African Flag each represent a different continet of the world.
The five colours are combined to form a single graphic logo.
The logo represents 'Unity' showing five people in a circle holding hands; a reference of togetherness and peace.
The logo is also a circle to represent the shape of a football.
Focus on the event and the country of South Africa.

Logo Ideas
The following ideas came from looking at the South African nation flag.
Idea One:
Considering that six colours are used in the South African flag and the fact that this is a worldwide event, I could relate these colours to the continets of the world. Although the 7-continent model is usually taught in most parts of the world, there are several ways of distinguishing the continents.
Six Colours - Six continents.
(Antarctica, America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia)
The 6-continent is taught in Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, Iran and some other parts of Europe.
Five colours (excluding white) - Five continents.
(America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia)
The 5-continent model is taught in the Iberian Peninsula, some other parts of Europe, and many Latin American countries.
