Logos continued

Logo description
:

The Five colours that make up the South African Flag each represent a different continet of the world.

The five colours are combined to form a single graphic logo.

The logo represents 'Unity' showing five people in a circle holding hands; a reference of togetherness and peace.

The logo is also a circle to represent the shape of a football.

Focus on the event and the country of South Africa.

Logo Ideas

The following ideas came from looking at the South African nation flag.

Idea One:

Considering that six colours are used in the South African flag and the fact that this is a worldwide event, I could relate these colours to the continets of the world. Although the 7-continent model is usually taught in most parts of the world, there are several ways of distinguishing the continents.

Six Colours - Six continents.
(Antarctica, America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia)
The 6-continent is taught in Latin America, the Iberian Peninsula, Italy, Iran and some other parts of Europe.

Five colours (excluding white) - Five continents.
(America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia)

The 5-continent model is taught in the Iberian Peninsula, some other parts of Europe, and many Latin American countries.

Visual Identity

I now have a solid concept for my promotional video (although this could still change or be altered) and will come back to animate it at a later date.
I now need to consider the visual identity for the event, including the events logo, as this will be visable thoughout all of the work that I produce.

Colours:

Traditionally the colours used for World Cup Identities are that of the host nation.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is being staged in South Africa so my initial thoughts were to look at the south African flag and use the same colours throughout it's visual identity-

Black
Yellow
White
Green
Red
Blue

Below are some examples of logos from past world cup events:

Below are some examples of logos from past European Cups and Uefa competitions:

Below are some examples of African Football logos including logos for the 2010 World Cup:

Scene Four:
Herd of wildebeast (migration)
Scene Five:
Footballer running.
Scene Six:

Scene Eight:

Scene Eleven:

Throughout this idea I also hope to relate football superstars with relivant animals. (eg Cheetah - Ronaldinho)

My second idea is to use traditional abstact imagery (similar to the images below) and create a series of animations related to football.

He also created the first official Olympic Mascot, a striped dachshund named Waldi.

ITV
In May 2005 Red Bee Media won a competitive pitch to work with ITV to re-brand its channels. Our brief was to create an overall brand architecture for the network and to re-brand the family of channels on-air, enabling the ITV network to move forwards to 2010 and beyond.
